The FMP aims to contribute to the competitiveness of agricultural and horticultural businesses in Northern Ireland. This Measure will seek to provide at least £15.25 million support for farm businesses to modernise their holdings and improve their production techniques by providing financial support for plant, machinery and equipment from a pre-defined List of Eligible Items across six priority investment areas.
Support of £3.25 million, out of the overall FMP budget, is also available through the Manure Efficiency Technology Scheme (METS) which aims to encourage uptake of specific advanced slurry spreading distribution systems. These technologies will help farmers to achieve greater nutrient efficiency from manures and slurry and reduce environmental impact.
Over 9,000 applications were submitted under the first tranche of the scheme and these are currently being processed. Additional funding tranches will be announced in due course.
